C63000 alloy, commonly referred to as aluminum bronze is frequently used in making aircraft parts, balls, bearings, cams, gears, heat exchanger parts, plunger tips, pump parts, shafting, structural members, tanks, valve components, bolts, nuts, ship propellers, and faucets.

The properties of any alloy will vary with the size, shape and temper of the sample being tested. But the industry-standard information below should serve as a helpful guideline.

Tensile Strength

The tensile strength of a material is a measure of the amount of stress it can withstand while being pulled before it will break. Aluminum Bronze is especially valued for its superior tensile strength. For example, C31400, a non-aluminum bronze, has a tensile strength that ranges from 37 to 60 ksi depending on its temper and form. By comparison, the tensile strength of C63000 ranges from 90 to 118 ksi.

Yield Strength

The yield strength of an alloy is defined as the point at which it begins to deform. It’s an indication of the limit of the alloy’s elastic behavior. Stretch it and it changes shape. Remove the stress and it returns to its original shape. At some point, it breaks.
